Our Story
Churchill School began in 1950 as Eastlea Boys High School. With the blessing of Sir Winston Churchill, the school adopted his name and the bulldog mascot that still symbolises our grit and loyalty today. Set in the heart of Eastlea, Harare, we have served generations of Zimbabwean boys as a public day and boarding school.
Through the decades the school has grown in stature—developing laboratories, sporting facilities and a renowned pipe band that once entered the Guinness Book of Records for endurance piping. The spirit of the Bulldog continues to unify Form 1 newcomers and seasoned Sixth Form leaders alike.
Bulldog for ever
Our motto captures the resilience expected of every Winstonian: stand firm, finish strong, and support your teammates. The bulldog crest and purple-grey-platinum colours are seen across our uniforms, sports kit and the banners of our pipe band.
The motto is not only for the playing field. It guides academic focus, leadership opportunities and service projects that shape boys into principled young men.

Leadership Today
Headmaster Patson Mugwanda leads the school with a focus on discipline, academic ambition and the Bulldog sense of perseverance. His team of senior staff and housemasters ensures that each boy is known, supported and challenged to contribute to Churchill and the wider Harare community.
